Hey everyone! Its Warren.
This is kind of wrote in past tense since its been a few days but I wanted to get something down while I still remember it. Also if its a little boring, or sporadic, I apologize in advance! Im still getting my blogging legs haha.
The trip up was pretty fun but a little stressful. Melanie had planned everything and of course I threw some fun in the mix. Took us almost the full two days to get up here and we did end up having to skip a couple of the stops. Some due to me and some due to the location itself. So let me start from the beginning.
We picked up the car around 10am. Pretty uneventful handoff other than the rental guy scaring our friend by almost hitting her as she pulled up. I got a laugh out of it though. Definitely a better wake up than coffee. The drive between the pickup and the first stop was pretty uneventful. I think it took about an hour and a half. Melanie got some good video (you’ll seen on our vlog) of me rocking out to some tunes.
The first stop though was a Dairy museum. It was pretty neat, they had all sorts of tool and such that are used in the production of milk. And of course also had some cool facts on how one of my favorite foods is made, which is cheese. They also had some giant cows out front, of which I took a couple selfies with.
Excuse the wild hair and beard, looking to get them trimmed while back home. Anyway, we spent some time there and learned about how big texas dairy production is. Overall a pretty neat place. Definitely handicap accessible and would be an interesting day trip if you have kids.
After spending some time there we then headed to Sulphur Springs, TX. This was a quick stop to check out the Ministry of Silly walks crosswalk and of all things a couple of see through outdoor restrooms. Supposedly they are the only ones in the US, but I haven’t verified. The town there was beautiful. They had a very nice, albeit fairly heavy trafficked downtown. So I didnt get to do my funny walk across the whole crosswalk, only in front of the sign. Melanie has some video of that, which will likely end up in the blog…. Along with quite a few of the other stupid things I do on a regular basis haha. But either way it was really nice there, we stopped to talk to some to the locals and then we headed to the square to see the see through toilets. I sadly didnt get any pictures, but Melanie did (view shown below). Definitely a fun experience using. I could see myself just people watching instead of watching tiktoks or youtube on my phone while using the restroom. It was surprisingly clean for a public restroom as well.
After that we headed to our, third stop of the day, Texarkana. I think our timing was off, because the whole town had a funky smell, not a good one. I read it was because some heavy rains stirred up their stuff in their water storage which caused it. Either way, if you go there and it smells like someone passed gas, it wasnt you, and likely wasnt the person next to you either. While there I got some great photos, the lighting was great. We stopped at the Texas/Arkansas border and jumped across a few times.
After stop, we made our way to our hotel in Tennessee. Melanie snapped a couple pictures of the Bass Pro pyramid, they had it lit up at night. Honestly never drove across the bridge in Memphis at night. Its a sight to see. The city line and bridge look beautiful.
And with that, our first day of driving was complete! I had a blast. Although some of the city driving frazzled me a bit and I got frustrated, I still had fun. Melanie had some great stopped planned and all were interesting and fun. I couldnt wait for the leg of our trip. But thats a story for another blog post 🙂
Bye everyone!
