Welcome back everyone! Sorry for the delay, pretty much as soon as we got back, my work has a busy period. Melanie has been hard at work with the vlog and her part of the blog as well. Hopefully should have that up in a few days.
So for now you guys have to put up with me (you poor souls). So with out further adieu, our second day!
We hit the road pretty early since we had quite a few stops planned. Our first stop was the worlds largest whisk in Nashville, Tennessee. Well that would have been our first stop if we could find it. Sadly we couldn’t. We circled the area a few times trying to find it with no luck. So we went to our backup / one we planned on going to on the way back, the Parthenon.
Honestly when Melanie told me there was a replica of what was in Athens, I figured it would be a scale model. It was FULL SIZE!!! Quite breathtaking in person. Its always been a dream to go to that part of the world and see the old ruins of past cultures. So seeing even a replica made me giddy. They actually have a replica statue of Athena in the upper floor as well. Given the nature of this blog, I also have to mention, it is very handicap accessible.
There are ramps at the entrance for the gallery and an elevator to the statue. Though if you want to walk around the path at the columns, you may have some trouble. I didn’t see any ramps for that area. Its also very busy so Id stay clear if you have mobility issues. Melanie and I did a decent amount of filming here so you should see that on the upcoming vlog. We are still quite new to that portion so we didn’t have a script or plan made. Which did cause some frustration for us. But I think we powered through it quite well and going forward we will plan things a bit better. Overall though, if you are in Nashville, the Parthenon is highly recommended!
Our next stop was going to be Sun sphere in Knoxville, but I had to make a detour for lunch. One thing I always complain about since moving to Texas is there isn’t any good fried chicken places (that Ive found so far). So as soon as I saw one of the advertisements for one of my favorite chicken places I had to stop. Ill give you a couple guesses. What’s that? I cant hear you….Oh yeah….blog, well here’s my vice:
Got so hyped Melanie had to snap a photo:
That stop, didnt really take much to get to, but it did take a while. So by the time we got to the Sun sphere, it was closed. That being said we will eventually make it there, but we had to skip it this time around. We were also supposed to see the worlds largest rubix cube in the building next to it also, which it was still open when we got there, but we couldn’t find parking anywhere! The whole area does look cool, as it was the location for one of the worlds fair’s, but the closest parking was a couple blocks away.
We did see some sky walks to cross the road, but the distance may work against those with mobility issues. I know for Melanie, during her flair ups it is very difficult for her to walk long distances even with an aid. So if any Knoxvillians know of any closer parking to the sphere feel free to let us know! Tennessee is on the list of places to go so its definitely one we will try to see again.
Sadly we had to scrap the other two small stops on the way to Virginia. After that attempted stop since we spent so much time trying to find parking. We were going to stop and visit Dr. Pepper’s gravestone (creator of my favorite soda), and some stockades, but it was too dark . Maybe on our trip up there (probably in June), we can stop at the places we missed or skipped.
I hope to crank out some other posts for the other places we went soon. But for now I’ll leave ya’ll with a photo from my modeling shoot. Bye!
Hey y’all, Melanie here, I did NOT approve the picture of me that he posted. It makes me VERY SAD! T.T
